Johnson & Wales

OPPORTUNITY

Define the user model and interface for a career management system that helps students track their skills.

RESPONSE

I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, visual designers, prototypers, product managers and software engineers.

I gauged the usability of an existing product and made constructive suggestions for change. I worked closely with the engineers, organized content/images for 150+ screens and learned a new web content management system (Ektron) to help with the implementation.

OUTCOME

Students and Faculty now have 24/7 access to career-related tools and templates to help manage their careers.

During the first few weeks, only 3 phone calls were made to the help desk which was a significant decrease from the hundreds of calls made in the previous year.

TESTIMONIAL

"On behalf of Johnson & Wales, thanks for a job well done to all of you! The resume builder tool is getting rave reviews and what I'm finding really amusing is that some are questioning whether it is too easy - probably a result of the first generation website created by another vendor that was such a problem."
